Announcing an online gallery to display the watercolors of late Smt. Suprava Nath (1944-2023).
In a span of forty years starting in 1975, Smt. Nath painted over 125 unique watercolors inspired by the music of a specific artist.
All her paintings are inspired by the ghazals of the legendary Ustad Mehdi Hassan.
In particular, each watercolor is based on the melody, not the lyrics, of a specific ghazal sung by the maestro.
In this preview, three of her watercolors are shown, with the ghazal inspiring the watercolor playing in the background when it is displayed.
The full online gallery with all her watercolors will be launched in the next few months.
Please sign up using the form at the bottom of this page to be notified when the full online gallery is live.
The gallery holding the original watercolors of late Smt. Suprava Nath was formally inaugurated by her long-term well-wisher and noted tabla player, Pandit Sukumar Barthakur in Guwahati, Assam, India. A simple ceremony was held there on Saturday February 22nd, 2025.
